Apps I Use to Edit my Instagram Photos: Autumn

Apps I Use to Edit my Instagram Photos: Autumn

Since I started curating my Instagram feed in early 2017, one of my most-asked questions was: “what apps do you use to edit your Instagram photos?“. In fact, followers are still asking me what apps I use to edit my autumn Instagram photos. I have spent too many hours of my life researching themes and editing techniques and iPhone photography tips because I was determined to have a pretty Instagram feed. It was so, so difficult. It still is.

Starting my autumn theme in April 2018 was stupidly stressful because it would be the first time that I broke away from a perfect, white feed. This meant that I had to practice how to take photos that would look autumnal AND complement the surrounding photos on my Instagram feed. Having to consider the theme and layout and colours can become quite unpleasant when you are an overthinker like me. Although it does sound like a lot of highly unnecessary stress, I truly enjoy the creative challenge.

Snapseed is the first app that I use to edit my autumn Instagram photos. In my opinion, it is the best free photo editing app available as it can be used for almost all types of basic and advanced edits. I make use of the Tune Image (brightness, saturation, ambiance, highlights and warmth), Details (structure and sharpness), Crop (square), Rotate, Perspective (tilt and rotate), Selective (brightness and saturation), Brush (exposure, temperature and saturation), Healing, and Text tools. I started my very first theme, a bright white theme, after playing around with Snapseed’s different tools.

Preview App

Preview App is the second app that I use to edit my autumn Instagram photos. It is the app that brings all of my photos together beautifully. Firstly, I layer a filter from their Fall Filter Pack over my edited photos. Unfortunately, this filter pack is not free. Lastly, I make use of the My Gallery feature to plan my Instagram feed. By being able to preview my feed, I can ensure that my photos complement one another and do not clash. In my opinion, Preview App is the best free Instagram preview app available with some wonderful filters.

Before & After

03/04/2018 “‘Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.’ 🍂 If only there were places in Cape Town as autumnal as this park was in St. Petersburg. Is there anything even remotely similar in this city? Please let me know!
Note: I published a blog post titled ‘Is Sorbet Cruelty-Free?’, which is linked in my bio.”

25/04/2018 “New hair 🍁 I took a pretty big risk by letting go of the blonde and choosing something completely out of my comfort zone. Warm hair for autumn/winter 🍂 Thank you, @charlottevanas!”

04/05/2018 “Yesterday’s lunch/dinner before watching The Avengers with @paulstopford666! Who else stayed seated until the end of the credits? 👀
P.S. I’m a fan of those deep-fried zucchini fries.”

04/04/2018 “I don’t know what’s more sad: the fact that I’ve got a whole box of these (not pictured), or the fact that I’m not an ambassador for Village Candle… Buying and burning these candles has become a bit of an autumn tradition 🍁 There are few things in life more cosy than burning an autumnal candle on a chilly day 🕯 (I don’t care how basic this is!)”

09/05/2018 “Satin, glossy and matte- which finish is your favourite? 🍂 I just posted a review of the Kathleen Lights x ColourPop Aquarius Lip Bundle on my blog + lip swatches, link in bio. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I will always be a fan of nudes (lipsticks)! 👌🏻 #BUTISITCRUELTYFREE”

I’ve tried using Lightroom, but I just can’t get used to it. When I have time I’m going to play around with it. Oh, yes, I loved VSCO’s filters during spring/summer! Your Instagram photos are beautiful. x

I just cannot get the hang of snapseed! I played around with it a bit but I still get confused sometimes. I much rather prefer lightroom. But maybe I should give snapseed another go as mannnnny people rave about it. Maybe I will love it too if I get the hang of it.

Crushing of your photos, by the way! It’s beautiful.

Haha! Lightroom confuses me, I’ve never gotten used to it. Play around a bit and you’ll get the hang of it, it’s extremely easy to use. Thank you! x
