ColourPop, a North American cruelty-free cosmetic brand, released their Kathleen Lights x ColourPop Aquarius Lip Bundle at the very beginning of 2017. This collection was a collaboration between Kathleen Lights and ColourPop. The bundle was released in celebration of Kathleen Fuentes’ birthday month and was only one out of many collaborations between her and ColourPop. Along with the pinky-nude trio of lip products in the Aquarius Lip Bundle, an Aquarius Lippie Stix and pencil were also released.
The Kathleen Lights x ColourPop Aquarius Lip Bundle was packaged in a pretty pink open-ended box adorned with metallic gold details. Each lip product was packaged in its own white box, specifying the finish of each product. The liquid lipsticks are packaged in a transparent tube, making it easy to identify the physical product, with a silver lid. On the packaging, the brand name and product finish are written in silver, while the name of the shade is at the bottom of the tube. I would consider these lip products to be travel-friendly as the packaging is not bulky, but it is unfortunate that the writing on the tube smudges off very quickly especially when stored in a makeup bag.
Aquarius (Ultra Glossy Lip)
This Aquarius product is an Ultra Glossy Lip. It is a slightly sheer pinky-nude with a shiny, glossy finish. It feels very soft, buttery and moisturising on the lips, with zero stickiness or tackiness. When worn alone, the Aquarius Ultra Glossy Lip gives one’s lips a beautiful, soft pink shine. It lasts for just under two hours before having to be reapplied, but the longevity is dependent on the nature of the activity that one does. This Ultra Glossy Lip is not transfer-proof.
Aquarius (Ultra Satin Lip)
This Aquarius product is an Ultra Satin Lip. It is an opaque peachy-nude with a semi-matte finish. It feels very soft, comfortable and satin-like on the lips, and it is more moisturising than it is drying. When worn alone, the Aquarius Ultra Satin Lip gives one’s lips a fresh, peachy layer of intense pigment. It lasts for approximately three to four hours before having to be reapplied, but the longevity is also dependent on the nature of the activity that one does. This Ultra Satin Lip is not 100% transfer-proof.
Aquarius 2 (Ultra Matte Lip)
Aquarius 2 is an Ultra Matte Lip. It is an opaque mauvy-nude with a matte finish. It feels quite wet upon application, but it dries down completely within a few minutes, emphasising the texture on one’s lips. When worn alone, the Aquarius 2 Ultra Matte Lip gives one’s lips a bold, mauvy layer of intense pigment. It lasts for approximately five to six hours before it starts to wear away, but obviously, the longevity is dependent on the nature of the activity that one does. This Ultra Matte Lip is definitely transfer-proof.
This trio of lip products with their different finishes impressed me tremendously, and I can hardly fault them. The formulae are all completely different and ColourPop appears to have perfected each one. I was attracted to the neutral shades in this bundle, and they have complemented my autumn/winter makeup. Aquarius 2, the Ultra Matte Lip, can look and feel very dry on the lips as it is the embodiment of a matte lip product. I recommend using a moisturising lip scrub and lip balm to help relieve the lips. My personal favourite lip product from the Kathleen Lights x ColourPop Aquarius Lip Bundle is the Ultra Gloss Lip, an unusual choice for someone who tends to avoid lipgloss, as it is comfortable to wear and the shade complements my skin tone.
I bought the Kathleen Lights x ColourPop Aquarius Lip Bundle directly from ColourPop’s online store for $12.00 and it is currently unavailable; however, some of the individual lipsticks are currently still available. Unfortunately, their products are not available in South Africa. For $9.99, it is possible to have orders under $50.00 (shipping for orders over $50.00 is currently free) shipped to South Africa via the South African Post Office or a specialised courier service. Please contact me if you have more questions about the delivery of these products.
